#66 beau benzschawel vs. Iowa (2018)

Strengths: Ability to pull outside and with trap-blocking designs, that allows to display athleticism in the run game. Very durable and continues that same athleticism throughout the game. impressive ability to deceive the defender on screenplays allowing them with a clear path to the quarterback before releasing and setting up blocks down the field. Great control of his body and the ability to shed off pass rushers. Plays to the whistle and from great body control, seldom are not on the ground. Has a great vision on the field, in pass protection, constantly scanning the space around the pocket.

Weaknesses: At the next level strength will oppose an issue, necessary to bulk up and get stronger. If not, will only be an average lineman who can't clear out on short yardage. Need to work on setting anchor as is susceptible to spin moves. Tends to stay too tall in pass protection as defenders can dip underneath and decrease his power. Need to work on position feet against the defenders to avoid that issue. Need to gets out faster to the defenders as stunts and hard chops will beat him to the pocket.

Draft Grade: 5.53

Draft Projection: 3rd - 5th Round

Does He Fit?: Yes, when the Rams drafted Rob Havenstein, perhaps had the same issues that Benzschawel posses coming into the draft. However, Havenstein under the tutelage of line coach Aaron Kromer, has turned into one of the higher echelon of offensive tackles today. The unbelievably conditioning and strength that has turned Havenstein into a mauler will optimistically do the same for Benzschawel.
