Player Bio: Davion Davis prepped at Hutto High School in Hutto,  TX a small town about 20 miles northeast of Austin, where he played receiver. He received a scholarship to Sam Houston St, to further his play at wide receiver.  Who would understand the fact that playing at SHSU would result in Davis becoming one of the FCS top elite receivers for multiple years? He finished his career at Sam Houston State with 226 receptions catches, 3,181 receiving yards and 40 touchdowns. Davis suffered a severe leg injury late in the senior year causing him to miss the final two games. In 2017, Davis junior year, he was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year. During that season Davis would have 78 receptions for 1,206 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. He also rushed the ball eight times for 81 yards and two touchdowns. He is the current record holder with the most career touchdown receptions and the first player to score four touchdowns in a game. ​

#14 Davion Davis Highlights

 ​Strengths: A very fast, and shifty player. Very elusive with the ability to break through a small window for extra yardage. Has great hands and rarely drop passes. Great leaper, with the ability, to win 50/50 balls. Ability to take the top of the defense. Fearless, will go run shallow or deep crossing routes. A great leaper who attacks the ball at its highest points. Has a skill that fits in any of the NFL offenses. Has the ability to make a defender miss in the open field. The explosive speed that will show on both return teams. A definite play-maker, with the ability to make a three-yard pass, for a long run after catch touchdown. Triple threat as a receiver and both return teams.

Weaknesses: Need to run better passing routes as he to tends hesitate throughout his route patterns. Small stature, and tries to break tackles in a phone booth. Despite being shifty, probably will need to try and break every tackle in crowded areas on the field. Need to stay healthy as he missed the last two game of the season with severe leg injury.

Draft Projection:  5th - 7th Round 

Does He Fit?: Yes, a true playmaker with speed and the ability to make things happen. A threat on the field field from short bubble screens to taking the top off the defense vertically. A fearless and dangerous return specialist that have the capability to bust any return. Has the propensity to play inside as a slot or even outside with his size. Will fit in perfectly into the offense of Sean McVay's system.
