Player Bio: Iosua Opeta prepped at Stansbury High School in Stansbury, UT, where he was named All-Region First Team, and All-State Honorable Mention his senior year. During his senior year, he played on the defensive line where he made 74 tackles and had five sacks. He received a scholarship to play his collegiate ball at Weber State as he would redshirt that year. In his redshirt freshman year Opeta played on the defensive line and made 16 tackles (five solo tackles), and an assisted sack on the year. The following spring, Opeta switched to the offensive side of the ball to the left tackle where he would go and start three consecutive years on the line and earl All Big-Sky First-Team honors. Opeta received an invite to the 2019 NFL Combine where as he would not disappoint by throwing 39 reps on the bench press displaying his ideal physical strength.

Strengths: A solid player, as his physicality is durable at the next level, as he demonstrated his strength at the combine. As a blocker, he is still productive at the second level. Ability to plug the gaps by speedy or bull rushers. Very consistent with blocking targets and stay square to mirror the defender. Block well in space and athletic enough to get out and extend the speedy pass rushers.

Weaknesses: 
Need to develop better footwork at the next level, lateral movement is choppy. At the tackle position, will need to bulk up for the powerful pass rushers at the next level. Does not demonstrate a strong punch, as he needs to use his hands more brutally. Need to work on anchoring his weight that limits his ability to produce leverage. Need to work on diagnosing blitz and stunts moves by the defensive side of the ball.

Draft Projection: 5th Round

Does He Fit?: Yes, a dominant and physical player who may be transitioned into a guard to help assist in the run game. Still a project, but does have the potential to become a quality backup and on special teams. ​
