Player Bio: Sanders played his high school football at Woodlands High School in Pittsburgh, winning Pennsylvania's "Mr. Football" award in 2015. He rushed for over 4,500 yards during his high school career and was considered a national top-25 prospect before making his way to "Happy Valley" to play for the Penn. St. Nittany Lions. Once he got there, however, he found his pathway to the playing field blocked by Saquon Barkley, an All-American and eventual number two overall pick in the NFL draft. However, when Barkley left for the NFL, Sanders got his chance to shine, rushing for 1,274 yards and catching and catching 24 passes for 139 yards. Choosing to leave school following his junior year, Sanders is considered one of the better talents in what is generally thought to be a rather thin pool of running backs in the upcoming NFL draft.

#24 miles sanders vs. appalacian st (2018)

Strengths: Sanders is a patient runner with good vision and instincts. Only 276 carries in college; he enters the draft with low mileage at a position that takes a high physical toll and ages players quickly. Sanders is elusive and surprisingly powerful for a man his size. Has loose hips and good lateral agility, Decent blocker and is considered to have good hands despite limited use as a receiver in college. Was considered a locker room leader and hard worker in college.

Weaknesses:  While Sanders is not slow, he did not show the ability to break a lot of long runs in college Can be fumble prone at times. Tends to dance around rather than only taking the ball upfield. Sanders had average days against top opponents like Michigan and Ohio State. Only started for one year with the Nittany Lions, so he is not especially experienced for a guy coming out of college. His receiving yardage was marginal at Penn St. While many think he has the potential to be a good receiver, the numbers so far do not prove that.

Draft Grade: 5.80

Draft Projection:  2nd - 4th Round

Does He Fit?:  If the Rams are looking for someone besides the players on the current roster to share the load with Todd Gurley in 2019, the answer could well be Miles Sanders. If the Rams want Sanders, they may have to hope he falls into the third or fourth round.  It seems unlikely that they would take him with their first-round pick, but then again, if Todd Gurley's knee is really in bad shape (and only the Rams know for sure), you cannot rule it out. The NFL in recent years has come to devalue running backs who are not considered elite talents like Gurley or Barkley, so that could happen
