Player Bio: Edwards was a high school quarterback at Lake Villa, Illinois Community High School. He did start three games as a Senior at safety, racking up impressive numbers which included two sacks and an interception. Edwards moved to inside linebacker at the University of Wisconsin. He made the AP All-Freshman All-America Team. Edwards went on to an illustrious college career for the Badgers, including making the All-Big Ten Team as a senior. He logged three interceptions and three sacks as a senior. Edwards is a tough, blue-collar guy who will not blow us away with his combine numbers, but always finds a way to make plays on the football field.

Strengths: Very productive college career in one of the country's top conferences. Technically sound tackler. Pretty good in zone coverage, and had ten career interceptions. Reads quarterbacks well and uses that ability to break up passes and make plays. Lots of experience in the big game again top opponents. As mentioned in his bio above, Edwards is a football player, a blue-collar guy who will stick his nose in there and make plays. His production in college far exceeds what we would expect from his combine numbers. A durable player who seems always to be ready to play and will not make stupid mistakes

Weaknesses: Edwards is neither especially big nor exceptionally fast, and he is not a "sideline to sideline" playmaker. While he is fine in zone coverage, he is not a guy we want to match up against an opponent in man coverage very often; he lacks the speed and athleticism for that. Might not be a "plug and play" guy who can start immediately.

Draft Grade: 5.47

Draft Projection:  4th-6th round

Does He Fit?:  Yes, although he might have to make his mark on special teams at first. Edwards is a guy we can probably grab in the lower rounds and gradually work into the linebacker rotation. However, Corey Littleton took that path with the Rams as an undrafted free agent, and he has worked out pretty well
