Player Bio: Anthony McFarland attended DeMatha Catholic HS in Hyattsville, MD. At DeMatha Catholic, he played running back and missed his entire senior season due to an injury. In his junior year, he rushed for 527 yards and eight touchdowns and caught 25 balls for 386 yards and four touchdowns.
He was named the 2015 Washington Post All-Metro Second-Team and Honorable Mention in 2014. In his sophomore year, he rushed for 1,124 yards, 15 receptions for 312 yards, and 12 touchdowns. Despite missing his senior year, schools were still recruiting hard to land him at their respective Universities. The four-star recruit turned Alabama, Miami, Penn State, and Georgia to keep his talent at Maryland. His biggest collegiate game came in 2018 when he torched the Ohio State Buckeyes for 298 yards.​

Strengths: This kid is FAST! Just ask the defense of the 2018 Ohio State Buckeyes as McFarland torched for 298 yards on 21 carries. He has tremendous speed, the breakaway speed that a team's offense demands. His speed stretches defenses to over pursue getting them outside of their containment or explodes to the gaps. He has excellent agility and very fluid, and rarely does the defense get a square hit on his body. He is short and compact and very elusive, who breaks many tackles by spinning and keeping his leg driving forward. The smallest daylight, he can bust a play to the house with his home run speed.

Weaknesses: He lacks experience as a pass protector and will need work; he has no solid anchor to protect. He has a comprehensive history of injuries throughout his playing career. Will be a liability in short-yardage, size question if he can get the short-yardage downs. Primarily responsibility will be a third-down or change or pace back.
