As a senior, Georgia Sports Writers Association named him as the Class 6A All-State Named Honorable Mention. The Cherokee Ledger named him the All-County Football First-Team, and the Cherokee Tribune named his as Cherokee County Defensive Player of the Year. Rechsteiner also was named All-Cobb County by Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Marietta Daily Journal in 2016. He played wide receiver, linebacker and kick returner while at Etowah High. He received a scholarship to play at Kennesaw St and as a senior he rushed for 909 yards on just 112 carries. He set the school record for a single game rushing record of 221 yards on just 10 carries this past season. He is the son of the former WWE wrestler Rick Steiner.
