GAME FILM
#3 Cam Akers VS Syracuse (2019)

#3 Cam Akers 2019 highlights

Strengths: Akers is running back, who has a symmetrical body that is a robust and compact frame. Akers has an excellent hip base that helps him completes runs with power. Will not hesitate to distribute discipline to approaching defenders. Has an excellent low pad level and demonstrates a mean straight arm. He is a patient runner such as Leveon Bell that can display tremendous explosions with his cuts in and out. He can compromise a lot of the field of the defense. It has much agility with very fluid hips and can cut on the move without losing speed. Demonstrate great balance with the ability to stay upright after contact. Out of the backfield, he is very aware of where he needs to be when protection breaks down.  Can flow out the backfield and turnup field for positive yardage. Process the field well in run zone schemes, or in RPO situations, can play fake and show a good base as a pass protector. Demonstrate and good anchor and use his hands well and as well as his pads. Use as a very productive wildcat quarterback.

Weaknesses: Despite being a dominant inside runner, he has subpar skills as an outside runner. The protection of the ball is a significant concern. He has put the ball on the ground ten times in his three seasons with the Seminoles. He tends to dip his head as a pass protector and will get outsmarted by crafty rushers. His small hands are not soft and causing him to juggle the ball when receiving. Not technically sound when need to reach out for the ball.

Draft Grade: 6.35

Draft Projection: 2nd-3rd round

NFL Comparison: Duke Johnson
