Player Bio: Javaris Davis attended Ed White High School in Jacksonville, FL. His senior year hear earned Class 6A All-State First-Team as a cornerback, and also play running back and receiver. He also would be named the Times-Union Top 25 and All-Gateway Player of the Year, and the Jacksonville Player of the Year honors. He also excelled in track, Davis finished as a state runner-up in the 100meters and the 4x100 relay. He is the cousin of Vernon and Vontae Davis.

#13 Javaris Davis season highlights (2019)

Strengths: He has tremendous speed, a blazer who can run with the fastest receivers down the playfield. He is an excellent cerebral player who has excellent instincts in play. He identifies the receiver routes and can react to play to defend. He plays well all coverages, whether it is a zone, press coverage, or man-zone coverages. Deep vertical threats are generally shut off against him as he will run step for step with the receiver. He is a good sound tackler below the pads and chases down a runner from the backside of the field. He has ability to return punts and kickoffs and in a gap will expose the missed gap containment.
 
Weaknesses: He does not have that ideal height of an NFL cornerback and will impose a problem with the more significant and physical receivers. He struggles to disengage from blocks to make tackles in the open field. His size puts him to a disadvantage attempting to make tackles against the running backs and have made it to the third level of the defense. He generally did not engage as much against the run; however, when he attempted, his tackle was above the pad level and generally would be thrown off. His best fit may be as a slot corner at the next level.
