Player Bio: Jonathan Garvin attended Lake Worth Community High School in Lake Worth, FL. At Lake Worth High, he dominated his senior year with 97 tackles (59 tackles for loss) and set a school-record with 18 sacks. In his junior year, Garvin made 93 tackles (36 tackles for loss), nine sacks, and six forced fumbles and one interception. ESPN rated Garvin as a four-star recruit, and he was the #22 ranked defensive player in the nation.

Strengths: He has excellent size and a solid frame that generates a great deal of power. He has good quickness off the snap and is disruptive to the ball. He uses a lot of moves with his arms and hand to get leverage and the advantage over the lineman. He used a variety of pass rush moves, specializing with chops, the club, and swipes. He is a good tackler with a secure grip and gives a good chase across the field.

Weaknesses: He seems to have a lackadaisical style with his play. He tends to pause while examining the play if run versus the pass. He is limited on defense built entirely for the, his size too small to play at a 2-gap technique and not agile enough to play a 1-gap scheme. Once engaged with the blocker, he loses his sight of the ball and recognizes and plays out on the fake with RPO plays. He will need to find better pass rush technique for the next level, will not overpower NFL tackles with his chop and swipes. He will be a two-down player at best until finding creativity with his pass rush moves and learn how to develo[p in dropping in coverage.​
