Player Bio: Jordyn Brooks prepped at Houston Stratford High School in Houston, TX. Brooks was a starting linebacker who amassed for 131 tackles (103 for solo), 13 tackles for loss, one sack, and 17 pass deflections. He was named District 19-5A First-Team in his junior and senior years. Brooks was a four-year starter for the Red Raiders, and in his freshman year, he became the first freshman player to lead the team in tackles with 86 and 61 tackles for loss. Brooks had replaced former Red Raider linebacker Dakota Allen whom Tech dismissed from the team following a burglary charge of a home, but the two would team up together later in Allen's career. He would finish third on the team with tackles his sophomore year with 86 tackles and lead the team again for the second time his junior campaign with 89 tackles. He ended his Red Raider career after missing the last game of the season 108 tackles (66 solos), and 20 tackles for loss, three sacks, 12 quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and two recovered fumbles. Against Oklahoma State, Brooks recorded his career-high of 19 tackles against the Cowboys along with three sacks. game film
#1 jordyn brooks vs Baylor (2019)

Strengths: Very active and linebacker who flies downhill to makes plays in space. Fast with fluid good hips to go sideline to sideline and shift directions to hawk ball-carrier. Insane play recognition with the ability to mutilate plays before development by beating the backs to his gaps. The ability to shed blocks and avoid contact from the blockers to create tackle. Great tackler who amassed over 360 career tackles (220 unassisted), and 20 tackles for loss. Solid linebacker frame with a high motor who can get after the quarterback.  A three-down linebacker with average cover skills even with the ability to cover receivers on short to intermediate routes.

Weaknesses: One concern will he be able to battle through the bigger and stronger lineman at the next level. One note after film study allows blockers to get inside his pad level and will need to use better hand placement to shed off blocks. He needs to stay more alert on backside plays that will create misdirection or end around back his direction. Tends to stay vertical and flat foot on passing plays that make him out of positions for crossing routes. Will get lackadaisical and find himself having to make up for the loss of positioning while dropping back in pass coverage.

Draft Grade: 6.37

Draft Projection: 1st - 3rd round

NFL Comparison: Myles Jack
