Player Bio: Josh Jones prepped at George Bush High School in Richmond, TX, about 30 miles outside of Houston. Jones played both football and basketball at Bush High. In basketball, he helped his team reached the state regional finals in 2012. Also his sophomore year, he was selected as the 2012 All-District Second-Team. In 2013 he was select All-District First-Team and 2013 All-Vype Team. Waco Tribune-Herald named Jones as the #11 top tackle out of 100. He arrived at Houston in 2015 and redshirted, however, he would start four seasons at left tackle for the Cougars.

#74 JOSH JONES GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Strengths: Has the ideal size for NFL offensive tackle with all of the physical has all the physical mechanisms. Athletic with a functional body that enables him to climb to the second level of defenders with relative comfort. A mauler, who is ensemble with good power, which shows at point-of-attack. Very dynamic when he needs to get in the trenches and the ability to immerse the defender into the turf. When on the move, he has quick and smooth footwork that enables him to pull, trap, and with combination blocks. Very fluid with excellent hips and dynamic as a pass blocker. Processes and recognizes defenses well, and the ability to sense out stunts. Has a fantastic anchor to overcome bull-rushers and packs a robust punch.

Weaknesses: Can be overaggressive at times, which creates penalties. Tends to protrude up too frequently, allowing his torso open for defender punches. Too many times observed him lunging out that left himself predisposed to inside countered moves. His massive boys often allow him with a habit of trying to overpower the defender as oppose to go through his mechanics. Needs to work on his kick-slide technique at the next level as it is not uniformed.
