Player Bio: Joshua Kelly prepped at Eastside High School in Lancaster, CA. In his senior years as the team captain, he rushed 1,469 yards and scored 16 touchdowns. He was named the Golden League Back of the Year and All-Golden League First-Team, and CIF All-State Second-Team Selections. He also was ran on Eastside High track team 100M, 200M, and 4 x 100 relay team. He only received one offer his senior year to UC Davis, played one-season and walked on to UCLA.​

Strengths: He is a well built running back with broad shoulders, compact lower body, to fill out his frame. He has excellent speed and explosiveness, that runs downhill and  squares his shoulder to generate power to take on the defender. He can hit the hole and get skinny to the smallest gap to gain yardage and secures the ball. He has great vision that allows him to get to the next level with his initial cut and added explosiveness. However, he is a legitimate north-to-south runner with a little twist to his run style. Arm tackles will not bring him down and he keeps his center gravity low below pad level against contact. He is a pass protector that will absorb the contact and stay square. He shows ability to catch the ball out the backfield with gentle hands.

Weaknesses: He does not posses the breakaway speed to maintain all the way for long runs. On film, we can see him get chased down by the defensive back at the third-level phase. He is a bit tight in the hip where it will not allow him to slow down immediately or change his direction. He will need to control his pad level as he can run too high. Need to established better patience to allow his blocks to develope and not try to outrun the blockers.
