Player Bio: K'Lavon Chaisson prepped at North Shore High School in Houston, TX. As a senior, Chaisson was named to the Texas AP 6A All-State team after tallying 50 tackles (13 tackles for loss), led the state with 15.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. He helped led North Shore to the Texas A Division I state title game after recording four tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble, for his exceptional efforts earned the defensive MVP honors for the win in the state title. Amazing his efforts considering he only played years of varsity football at North Shore. He earned a scholarship to LSU and became a starter and won a National Championship this past January.​

#18 K'lavon Chaisson 2019 highlights

Strengths: He has an excellent build for the EDGE or as an outside linebacker. He will a good fit in a 3-4 or 4-3 defensive alignment. He has a tremendous speed to compliment his excellent frame. His speed allows him to curve around to edge to get to the backfield just about every play. He has the notoriety of a definite defender against the run. He has the rush first and stops the run mentality, which led the team in tackles for loss. He has good fluid hips, which allows him to be explosive with a variety of rush moves. He has surprising high-energy along with his football skills, as a dominant, powerful bull rusher. He can dominate the edge on run plays and limits himself from blockers to make it for the tackle. Off the edge, he can blow right past the blocker and set them up with a quick counter back inside. He can drop in coverage and defend against the pass. He can be a three-down defender at the next level against the backs and tightends. 

Weaknesses: He lacks transitioning his speed to power as a pass rusher. His arms did not measure out well as expected at the NFL Combine, which will allow the offender to block him around the edge. He is inconsistent with his speed when trying to come around the edge, needs to work on his bend. Despite being a good run defender in a rush, he does not transpose the same as a pass rusher with limited moves even though he also led the team in sacks. He will need to work on pass rush moves at the next level.
