In his senior year at DeSoto High, help helped DeSoto Hight on capturing the Class 6A Division II state title and a perfect 16-0 record. He ended his senior with 46 receptions for 825 yards and nine touchdowns, including his longest touchdown for 75 yards. He received an invite to play on the U.S. Under-19 National Team against Canada on Jan. 28, 2017, in the North American Championship at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL. Shenault also played on the DeSoto's High basketball team. Shenault father was struck and killed by a vehicle in front of the family while on vacation when he was ten years of age. He is a versatile player who was productive as a receiver, running back, wildcat quarterback and return specialist who has excellent strong hands that pluck the ball out the air and excellent ball security. He has a tremendous burst of speed and is powerful when initiation contact against the defender and run through arm tackles. Very explosive in the open the field who weaves and his way through traffic with excellent body control. He is a definite vertical threat who will take the top off of the defense in a hurry. He can take a short reception and take it the distance. He tracks the ball well down the field or to the outside perimeter.
Weaknesses: He never played one true position and is in the draft listed as wide receiver. This could play against him of the fact he never defined himself as a polish route runner. His routes tree were limeted to the slant, quick outs, and nine route, so it will challenge the scouts of truly of a good receiver he can be at the next level. Red flag on injuries has derailed some of his stock, even after suffering a core muscle injury at the 2020 NFL Combine that required surgery days later.
