Player Bio: Lucas Niang prepped at New Canaan High School, where he won three consecutive state titles in Connecticut. He became the first recruit from  Connecticut to receive a scholarship to attend TCU. Niang was the #1 rank lineman in the state and #3 overall tackle to be recruited his senior year and named to the 2015 Walter Camp All-Connecticut Team. Recruited highly by Penn State and Auburn, but elected to play for TCU. A three-year starter for the Horn Frogs but was limited by injuries to his hip as well playing half the season with a torn labrum in 2019.

Strengths: Display great get off at the point of attack, useless time getting into the defender for blocks. He has great length, size, and very athletic for a player of his statue. Athleticism significantly shows as a pass protector with the ability to match up with speedy edge rushers. Very mobile and has a great lower body that enables him the ability to use a kick slide during pass protection. As a junior, was a flawless pass protector yielding ZERO sacks. Long wingspan also gives him the advantage to gain depth for pass protection. Uses hands well to prevent defenders from gaining an edge on stunts. A good run blocker that is athletic and can obtain rushers leaking into zone blocking schemes and the ability to block at the second level, especially with screen plays.

Weaknesses: Injuries have become of concern after suffering a hip injury and torn labrum. At the next level will need to refine his techniques to remain consistent on the field. Despite using his hand wells, he will need to develop a strong punch at the initial point of contact. Will need to create better footwork to develop blocking on man-gam blocking schemes that will enable him to move the line on downhill blocking assignments. Tends to overextend in the run game and needs to trust his size.
