Player Bio: Rico Dowdle attended A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, NC. Dowdle played quarterback at Asheville High and put up some of the most ridiclous numbers for a triple threat quarterback. His senior year he rushed for 2,545 yards, passed for 1,454 yards, and one reception for 55 yard, and scored 51-touchdowns. He earned the Class 3AA All-State First-Team, name as a PARADE ALL-American, invited to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. He also received honors as an All-Atlantic Region pick by PrepStar.​

#5 Rico Dowdle HIGHLIGHTS

Strengths: He has the typical skillset to be three down back, a jack of all trades back. He is a powerful back who has speed, good vision and good size on the field. His visino is probaly his best attribute to make up of for his lack of athleticism. A back that runs violently, he will always scan for alleys to cutback inside. He will be a perfect fit for zone reading offenses. He has teh ability to get skinny in the smallest gaps and and weave his way through the limited space. He uses his power to plunge over the defender, he is not frightend of contact. He has adequate hands out of the backfield and he is skilled enough to work himself free when protection breaks down.  

Weaknesses: Injuries are a significant portion of a red flag to his stock. His hard style of running contribute to his knee, groin, and sports hernia cause him to miss many games in college. He is not elusive to make the defender miss. Will need to work on better pass protection in the backfield. As a receiver will need to limit his amount of drop passes despite his gentle hands.
