Player Bio: Ross Blacklock prepped at Elkins High School in Missouri City, TX a suburb of Houston. Blacklock was rated as a four-star by 247Sports.com as a defensive tackle. His senior year at Elkins, he recorded 56 tackles (10 tackles for loss), three sacks, and 11 quarterback hurries. He received an invite to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl after being ranked as the #18 defensive tackle in the nation.

​#90 Ross Blacklock VS smu (2019)

Strengths: He has good power and very athletic, which is impressive for a undersized nose tackle that lines head-to-head over the center. He has the right size but now has the body of most nose tackles in the league. However, he makes up for with a tremendous explosive step off the ball and impressive speed for player at his size. His excellent power allows him to bull-rush the blocker to impede the play in the backfield. He demonstrates good fluid hips and elasticity with his ankles to beat the blocker to the edge. His repertoire of moves of beating the blocker is incredible as he displays swim, rip, and chop. He can play one gap and control double team blocks and still enforce pressure on the play. He is an excellent cerebral player who can recognize RPO, and stay consistent with his pad level, and chase down plays from behind. He versatility and athleticism all him to play as a one-technique or the three-technique.​

Weaknesses: As an aggressive rusher, he tends to lean too much forward off his toes, which creates him to be on the ground more than favored. On the point-of-attack, he could use more of a punch to rush, especially on interior double-teamed blocks. His hand placement will get a bit high as he needs to work to be more consistent as a pass rusher. Missed the entire 2018 season with a ruptured Achilles tendon and will need to be monitored.
