Player Bio: Carlos Basham Jr., attended Northside High School in Roanoke, VA. He played both defensive line and tightend his senior year recording 76 solo tackles (21 tackles for loss) and seven sacks and nine receptions and a pair of touchdown catches at tightend. Played varsity all four-years help lead his team win the Blue Ridge District in 2015. He earn the Virginia 3-A State Player of the Year, 3-A all-state First Team selection, the All-Timesland by the Roanoke Times First Team, All-31 Conference and Defensive Player of the Year First Team, Blue Ridge District Defensive Player of the Year First Team, and ranked #36 on the Roanoke Times list of the top 100 players in the State of Virginia. Basham Jr also played basketball for Northside and was the schools starting center.

#9 CARLOS BASHAM 2020 HIGHLIGHTS

Strengths: The first thing that sticks out on him is his outstanding athleticism and speed from the outside. He plays with a high motor with elite rush skills, especially with his stop and starts moves. He displays excellent swim moves when inside and uses tremendous rip moves. He can prevent the blockers from placing their hands on his body with his long extended arms. Against the run, he could slide down the line to defend and turn the ball carrier back inside. He has impeccable strength that denies the blockers to overpower him and make plays. His tremendous explosion of the ball is impressive from his first two steps. His ability to drop out in coverage or spy the quarterback is essential to his draft stock.

Weaknesses: He needs to work on his strength to become more powerful and providing bull rushes. He does to many planned moves to get around the blocker opposed to trying to overpower. He lacks the skill to fight through traffic to make tackles. Usually misses one or two easy tackles per game and will not work at the next level remaining on a roster. He lacks a high motor late in the game and needs to more conditioned.
