Player Bio: Patrick Jones II attended Grassfield High School in Chesapeake, VA. In his senior year, Jones II recorded 83 tackles (12 ½ tackles for loss) and 8 ½ sacks. Scout Magazine rated Jones II as the #1 defensive end in Virginia. Jones II was named to the Group 6A All-State first team, American Family Insurance ALL-USA Virginia Football Team, Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the Monitor-Merrimac Conference, All-6A South Regio, and The Virginian-Pilot All-Tidewater. He chose Pittsburg to play his collegiate ball and wore #91, the same that the former two-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald wore at Pitt.

Strengths: He has an enormous burst off the scrimmage line that causes him to explode to the backfield unbelievably. His get-off is so quick and smooth that it is an artwork when adding the mix's tangibles. Around an arc, he has a right bend around the pass protector with his route to the backfield. He has excellent vision and does not waste any of his angles getting home. If an athletic lineman can beat him to the arc and try to derail his route, he is powerful and athletic enough to reposition himself back on course. He has a repertoire of pass moves where the linemen can not sit on one move. A very lengthy wing-span and long arms provide him nice rips, swim, and club moves. He maintains excellent leverage when blasting through the run lanes and not intimidated by backside blockers pulling. Very disciplined playing against the run and uses his hands well for separation and preventing the blockers from engaging into his body.

Weaknesses: Despite his long reach, it tends to be one of his first go-to moves toward blocker, and at the next level, exposure to that will allow craft blockers to engage to his chest. He will need to win more on first initial contact with better hand placement techniques. He needs to increase more bulk to his lower body to generate more speed to power on his pass rush. More than likely, he will benefit if he was to create better bull rush moves to his repertoire.
