Player Bio: Royce Newman attended Nashville High School in Nashville, IL. He played good and basketball for the school. Newman excelled well in both sports as he was named Belleville News-Democrat All-Area First Team and named 2A All-State in basketball by the Illinois Football Coaches Association. He was able to help lead the school to the state semifinals in his senior year.

Strengths: He is a colossal and robust offensive with tremendous strength to his upper body. He uses that strength to generate power to open up holes and control his block to allow the running back to run through. His grip strength is impressive, and he manages an excellent anchor to maintain his balance. He firmly holds his stance even if rushers somehow manage to get below his pad level. He can climb up to the second level on blocks only from Point A to Point B.

Weaknesses: He becomes off-balanced when lunging out at the defender; if he misses his hands and does not land them on the defender, he cannot recover. The defender's counter move leaves him susceptible to being stranded on an island and trying to calculate a way to get off. He tends to play above the pad, leave on a consistent base, and get beaten every time. He may be fit better at converting inside at the guard position as he displays his power and phone booth size athleticism.
