Player Bio: Trevon Moehrig played at Smithson Valley High School in Spring Branch, TX. He played cornerback at Smithson Valley High, where he recorded seven interceptions, two for touchdowns, and returned four punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns. He also played running back to help Smithson Valley on the offensive side of the ball. He chose TCU over Baylor, Oklahoma State, Stanford, and Texas A&M, whom all felt better landing shots at those schools.

#7 trevon moehrig hightlights

Strengths:  He is a very athletic safety with excellent size, length, speed, and versatility. His versatility shows from his days at cornerback that exemplifies his quick feet, lovely fluid hips, and ball-hawking skills. It is a plus at safety as it allows him to adequately play in man-to-man coverages against receivers, backs, and tight ends. His speed and athleticism allow him to close on the ball. He is a cerebral player whose great instincts with diagnosing plays, especially against the screen. He comes downhill hard to navigate through traffic to get to the ball and make tackles and tackle well in the open field. He is very aggressive in the defensive backfield, had great range, and challenge the ball at his catch point. He can play in any defenses that require press coverages on the zone; he has enough talent to be a year two starter potentially.

Weaknesses: With the good, there comes the bad that we can discover when observing players. He has all the suitable tools and talent playing safety; however, he can become reckless. His aggressiveness and speed can play as a disadvantage against him. He will over pursuit plays from bad angles and place himself out of position. He will anticipate jumping routes, getting caught looking in the backfield, and exposing himself to big chunk plays. The veteran quarterbacks will observe that and audible at the next level and force him to be susceptible to double moves. He needs to add more bulk and strength to his frame as he struggles to disengage off blocks and get washed out of the play. Despite his excellent tackling skills, he tends to go below the knee for tackles. The stronger and more physical players will run through those tackles or hurdle him.
Draft Projection: 1st - 2nd Round

NFL Comparison: Minkah Fitzpatrick (Pittsburg Steelers)
