#10 DEANGELO MALONE VS APPALACHIAN ST (2021)

#10 DEANGLEO MALONE HIGHLIGHTS

Strengths
  • He is a freakish defender who will penetrate and fly around the offensive backfield.
  • He plays with a high motor and excellent speed.
  • He flies downhill fast and can maneuver through the tightest holes between blockers.
  • He will use exceptional power to beat through a block.
  • He has a mediocre bull rush and distributes crafty handwork to separate.
  • He demonstrates excellent recognition of the run and gets home to make the tackle.
  • He has the art of shedding blocks to make a play.
  • He has active hands to rip at the ball at all times to create turnovers.

Weaknesses
  • He will need more muscle mass and bulk for his skinny frame.
  • More prominent size blockers will push him around and wah him out of the play.
  • He tends to play above the pad level and nearly stands upright.
  • He will lose his leverage battle when coming across the line due to consistent ducking of his head.
  • He is not a thumper, mainly tackle like a defensive back, and will need to learn to generate hit power.

Draft Projection
: 4th - 5th Round

NFL Comparison: Chris Garrett (Los Angeles Rams)
