Worldwide ramsEd “Pi Double I” Henderson The Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee reportedly been hospitalized with an apparent lung issue. Higbee’s sustained a hit in Sunday’s game in the defeat over the New Orleans Saints 27-9 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Reported that Higbee coughed up blood an had to be admitted as a precautionary measure to further evaluate his symptoms. At this point, the Rams organization has not reported how long Higbee would be out due to this injury. If Higbee is to miss any significant time the Rams will consider using their “next man up”, with third-year tight end Gerald Everett. Many have expected that this was going to be Everett’s breakout season after displaying significant flashes last season. Also, reserve tight end Johnny Mundt is expected to step up in the absence of Higbee too, when the Rams travel to Cleveland to play the Browns next Sunday on the SNF late game. The Rams offense have suffered a blow with Higbee’s injury, while the Browns secondary is expected to play the Rams receivers in press coverage all game long. This will allow the tight ends to see a lot of targets in the middle of the field and Higbee is a dominant force in the seams. Higbee signed a new four-year contract extension last week for $31M and could earn up to $36M with incentives. Higbee’s extension also revealed that he receives $15.5M in guarantee, and is with the team up through the 2023 football season.
