Chris Johnson Highlights

Strengths: Excellent athlete with tremendous speed. A very high IQ of the game that frequently displayed on the field. Despite his 6'3" height, is a versatile player with the ability to play either up top, in the slot, or outside. Very fluid hips can cover any route of the passing tree. A better fit is roaming the middle of the middle killing vertical routes. A defensive back with excellent tackling skills that will provide a thump on any player on the field. Great field recognition with the ability to jump routes. Will be a high back up starting with the potential of starting in a few years.

Weaknesses: Can ban too aggressive at times that lead him to over pursue tackles. Tends to look into the backfield that will leave deceptable to double move routes. Even though he has a great knack for the ball will be deceptive to pump fakes. Need to avoid unnecessary contact with blockers by out moving them instead of trying to run through them.

Draft Grade:  5.80

Draft Projection: 4th round (sleeper)

Does He Fit?: Yes, with the loss of LaMarcus Joyner and the addition of Eric Weddle the 12th year veteran, in two seasons Rams will be needing a starting free safety. Rams currently have safeties Marqui Christian and Blake Countess as reserves but expectations that Johnson can have an extended career safety in the league. Will be a specials team contributor immediately and will do well as a gunner.
