Player Bio: Jenkins boasts an ideal size for the center position and has a reputation as a reliable technician who can do what needs to be done and minimize mistakes. Although he mostly played center as a senior, as he is also capable of playing guard and even has played some tackle in college, though most scouts see him as an interior lineman in the NFL. Jenkins is considered someone who can step on and play from day one, rather than a long term "project" type of player. Jenkins allowed only one sack with over 700 plus snaps as a college center. Jenkins played against a high level of competition in the talent-rich SEC.

Game Film
#74 Elgton Jenkins vs. Alabama (2017)

Strengths: Intelligent player and an excellent interior pass protector. He has long arms, big hands and good athleticism for a center. As a run blocker its not his strength, he is a tough player who can get to the second level when run blocking. Keeps a good wide base and drops anchor against powerful bull rushers. Has great hand placement that does well when arc blocking and maintains good body control.

Weaknesses: The main knock on Jenkins is that he does not play up to his size in terms of physicality and lacks the mean streak we would like to see from an interior lineman in the NFL. Lack explosiveness out of his stance and don't attack the defender aggressively off the ball. While he will not make many mistakes, he is not the prototypical "road grader" in the run game that many teams would like to see.

Draft Grade: 5.85

Draft Projection: 2nd - 4th round  (scouts project as a late-first round selection)

Does He Fit?: Absolutely! With former starting center, John Sullivan no longer with the Los Angeles Rams Jenkins this makes perfect sense. The team has on the second-year roster player Brian Allen at center and starting right-guard Austin Blythe who also plays that position. As the Rams coaching staff was quoted saying they believe in Allen, there is nothing wrong with a little training-camp competition, not to mention depth. The fact that Jenkins can also play guard certainly enhances his value in the this 2019 NFL Draft.

NFL Comparison: Jeff Faine
