Player Bio: Jonah Williams played high school football for Folsom HS in California after moving from Atlanta, GA his freshman year. Williams ranked as one of the best high school offensive linemen in the nation, received offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and USC. His decision to sign with the University of Alabama where he would have an excellent career. His freshman year, Williams started at right tackle and transitioned to the left side his final two years at Alabama.  In  29 games, and 482 consecutive snaps he did not allow one sack. However, in the 2018 BCS National Title Game, he allowed two sacks against a ferocious Clemson defense. Williams performed well at the 2019 NFL Combine, but concerns of the length of his arms is questionable at the next level.

Game Film
#73 Jonah Williams vs Clemson (2017)

Strengths: Williams is a very smart and athletic lineman that understands the defensive schemes wisely. Very fluid hips and excellent body control with excellent lateral quickness.  Has the ability to recognize stunts and protect with backside blocks. He works well in space and the perfect run blocker with a power sled drive and the ability to set the anchor with dominant bull rushers.

Weaknesses:  Tends to be overaggressive in pass protection that forces open up hips and allow pass rusher to remain square. Short arms, that results in allowing pass rusher to outreach him and work inside his frame. Does has a smaller frame at the tackle position and with versatility may shift to offensive guard. As a drive blocker may need to be able maintain his knee bend in drive blocking.

Draft Grade: 6.30

Draft Projection:  1st Round

Does He Fit?: Yes, Rams will need to rebuild their offensive line after losing Jake Sullivan and Roger Saffold. With starting left tackle Andrew Whitworth more than likely playing his final season for his career, and probably need to stockpile their youth line for years.

NFL Comparison: Jake Matthews
