Player Bio: Otaro Alaka, the Houston native, signed his intent originally with the University of Texas. However, he opted out and chose A&M as a four-star recruit and started five games as a true freshman. He finished his freshman year with 33 tackles (3.5 for loss), two forced fumbles) and named Defensive MVP in the 2014 AutoZone Liberty Bowl.   Alaka suffered a torn labrum in his sophomore year requiring him to redshirt. ​The red-shirt Sophomore year, Alaka compiled a total of 74 tackles (nine tackles for loss) and two sacks. During his junior year, he registered 78 tackles (12 tackles for a loss), and 5 1/2 sacks. With 79 tackles (14 1/2 tackles for loss) and four sacks, he leads his Aggie team his senior year.

Strengths: Has great size and average speed for the linebacking position. Recognizes plays exceptionally well, especially the run with active feet to get to the ball carrier. Fills the gap quickly to makes the tackle especially if he needs to change direction. Plays well in the box, not afraid to take on blockers. Very effective as a blitzer primarily from the outside. Use his hands well, plays angry with the ability to throw the blockers aside to make contact. Very strong, and uses leverage well in crowded areas of the field. Has good motor skills and continue to play until the whistle blows.

Weaknesses: Tends to take bad angles toward ball carriers to make the tackles. Not a heavy thumper while taking on ball carrier. Not a everydown type of player, as he needs to work on his coverage skills. A bit of trash talker, and will get in opponents faces. As tackler doesn't follow through the process with the tackle which allows ball carrier to break tackles. Has tight hips and not very fluid which causing the bad tackling.

Does He Fit?: Perhaps, another project but can be productive on special teams. Great size and strength in a couple years can be a good run stopper. He's a in-between a outside linebacker and strong safety.
