However, he opted out and chose A&M as a four-star recruit and started five games as a true freshman. He finished his freshman year with 33 tackles (3.5 for loss), two forced fumbles) and named Defensive MVP in the 2014 AutoZone Liberty Bowl. Alaka suffered a torn labrum in his sophomore year requiring him to redshirt. The red-shirt Sophomore year, Alaka compiled a total of 74 tackles (nine tackles for loss) and two sacks. During his junior year, he registered 78 tackles (12 tackles for a loss), and 5 1/2 sacks. With 79 tackles (14 1/2 tackles for loss) and four sacks, he leads his Aggie team his senior year.
