DRAFT YR:  2019     COMBINE INVITE: no

Player Bio: Kurron Ramsey prepped at Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Va where he played wide receiver and as an defensive back. He received a full scholarship ride to Alabama State to play defensive back but red-shirted his freshman year. Ramsey seen action in 2015 - 2017 where he contributed on defense with excellent defensive efforts. In 2018, his senior year, Ramsey would shine even brighter on the defensive side of the ball as he recorded 74 tackles (one tackle for a loss), and one forced fumble to lead the team in tackles in four total games. Ramsey had a career high in tackles against Tuskegee with a total of 14 tackles. He would finish his career at Alabama State by playing in a total of 43 games, contributed with 176 total tackles (four tackles for loss), two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and 13 pass deflections. Ramsey participated in a few pro-day events, such as Alabama State's and Bowie State, in which in our opinion, has raised his NFL stock. NFL scouts on hand were very impressed of Ramsey's all around drills and are now on the radar of several teams. The scouts slept on Ramsey, but now he has waken them up with his impressive pro-day results.

#47 KURRON RAMSEY HIGHLIGHTS

Strengths: He has excellent speed for a tall defensive back with very fluid hips. Tremendously long, with the ability to cover much range. Versatile, can play the high-low safety positions over the top or down in the box. Big and a disciplined defender, and agressive who knows how to accomplish his task. A very physical and strong defender that plays angry. A sure tackler who will proceed and lay the hat on any ball carrier. Very instinctive and determined player, who rarely puts himself in the wrong position. Read and reacts to the play before commiting, and flies all over the field. Recognizes the run and fills instantly and with RPO plays, disciplined to stay in coverage.

Weaknesses: Will need to raise his target area when tackling at the next level, more experience runners will leap over the intended tackle. Tends to get caught in space and glued to blocker. Use hands well, but need to extend arms out quicker to shed away from bigger blockers.

Draft Grade: 5.16

Draft Projection: 5th-7th Round

Does He Fit?:  Yes,

NFL Comparison: A defensive back who is an incredible athlete with excellent speed, and a disciplined defender, what more can be ask in a player? Having the versatility to play both strong and free safety is an incentive for any defense. His 6'3" frame on the back end prevents many deep passes from landing in receivers hand. A defensive coordinator such as Wade Phillips would love to have Ramsey on his defense, and probably would not hesitate in trying to convert Ramsey into a press-cover corner. A definite candidate for special-teams at the beginning of his career. Someone will take a chance on him, that will remains to be seen at the 2019 NFL Draft.
