Player Bio: Alex Taylor prepped at Berkely High School in Moncks Corner, SC He was a star basketball in high school and signed with Appalachian St, who recruited to play football. It did not go as planned as South Carolina St allowed him the opportunity to transfer there and play basketball. After a couple of seasons playing as a reserve, he opted out basketball and returned to playing football. He went on to start his junior and senior seasons at South Carolina State and put him in a position to become a late-round draft selection.

Strengths: He is a massive player with his enormous size and great athleticism that jumps right out. His impressive size is fantastic, as he is very twitchy, extreme athletic ability, and has excellent hands. He has fantastic hand and eye coordination, where he developed by being a tremendous hoop player. He has excellent mobility skills and relies on his agility and feet to generate power. He does an excellent job at 6-foot-eight by getting below the pad level of the defender to load up with power in the point of contact, showing he has the correct knee bend. He is a perfect fit for run-zone offenses where he uses his unbelievable 88-inch wing-span and athleticism to control the defender. His progression as a pass blocker shows his swiftness and intensity in his kick slide. He has good hips when dropping for leverage and moving throughout the arch with relative ease.

Weaknesses: He is a late bloomer who started playing the game late, and he is still a bit raw. He has not shown his natural blocking strength, and if seriously commits to football be his only sport, NFL teams will need to exercise the risk of selecting him on draft day. His size would produce a concern with his leverage at the next level. He has struggled in not recognizing and reacted late to inside delayed blitz. He has shown inconsistencies with his play grip and usage of his hands.
