During his junior season, he recorded 18 tackles and one tackle for a loss.

#7 Patrick Johnson career highlights

Strengths: He is tremendously athletic, physical, and a versatile rusher who is very impactful off the EDGE. He has good speed coming off the edge with excellent burst up the field. He is lighting fast with inside penetration at the point-of-attack setting his position against the run. He can become a mismatch for an offensive tackle with a combination of moves with his dip-and rip move to get to the backfield. He uses his physicality to power against the blockers with a good punch with quick hands and an unstoppable high motor. He is a high cerebral player with excellent knowledge of the game. He set the edge well and can drop off in pass coverage.

Weaknesses: He needs to add more bulk and muscles to his frame for the next level.
Despite his speed off the edge, he does not possess elite quickness and not very flexible. He has stiff hips and tight hips that will not allow him to have a significant bend. He will not overpower the bigger offensive tackles and will struggle to disengage from blocks. At the next level, he will have to choose from a defensive end or EDGE.
