Player Bio: ​Tyler Shelving prepped at Notre Dame High School in Lafayette, LA. His illustrious career at Notre Dame earned him several honors as the Consensus number one player in Louisiana. He received honors to All-USA Louisiana First Team Defense. He received invites to Under Armour All-America Game and The Opening, a premier Nike showcase camp held in Oregon during the summer. Shelvin also played on the school's basketball team.

Strengths: He has enormous size and will be one of the biggest defensive linemen on the interior front in the 2021 NFL Draft. Bet fit for a 3-4 defensive front as he can play either the 0-tech, 1-tech, or 2-tech alignment in a 4-3 base fronts. Teams with the need for a disruptive nose tackle to eating up space in the middle will find their guy in Shelvin. He takes on several blocks, and good quickness shed them and make a play. His quick feet is surprisingly good because he generates tremendous power on the rush or tackle. His best attribute is defending against the run, with exceptional gap penetration clogging the run lanes. At the level will solidify an anchor in the middle of the defensive front, and defense will get created with inside gap blitzes.

Weaknesses: Shelvin did not play in the 2020 season as he opted out due to the pandemic virus spread. He played sparingly early in his career until the 2019 season, helping LSU win a National Championship, so he is still raw with work needed. He will no better than a two-down defender, as he has no pass rush mechanics. He needs to work on exploding off the snap as he can create more havoc at the next level. A one-trick pony trying to bull-rushing the pocket back is his only move to help the other pass rushers. Because of this, he will dip in the draft, but a need with the need of a nose tackle may take him earlier. He will get his hands above the pad level exposing himself to the interior blocks. He needs to work on his lower body strength as double-team blocks take him off his anchor and get him off-balanced.
