​Player Bio: Joshua Williams prepped at Jack Britt High School, located in Fayetteville, NC. Williams was much more focused on track than football; he ran the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles, and the long jump. The Fayetteville product also was quick to relay that his best time in the 100-meter dash was 10.68, which came during his senior year of high school. Unfocused on his academics, Williams enrolled at Palmetto Prep Academy, located in Columbia, SC.​

Strengths  

• ​He is very athletic and has the ideal length, size, and speed for living out on the boundary.
• He is a cerebral player who has a suitable football IQ and played in a lower level of competition. 
• He utilizes his long frame to contest the catch point of the ball, even if he is not in the ideal position. 
• He has excellent footwork with a quickness that allows coming in and out of breaks.
• He has a good presence in mind to creep in coverage, and his reaction skill is impeccable after decoying the quarterback.
• His cover skills are one of a kind as he can cover the receiver and read the quarterback's eyes.
• He is a willing participant in the run game who will fly downhill fast, square up his target, and drive his shoulder into the torso of the runner.

Weaknesses

• He is not very fluid in the hips as he will struggle rotating side to side and will become unbalanced at times.
• He will struggle in press coverage against bigger and stronger receivers.
• He tends to lose leverage when pressing and is not comfortable recovering his coverage.
• He needs to work on his footwork in and out of breaks, which allows the receiver to get open sooner.
• He doe not have a significant bend in coverage; he will need to work on that skill.
• In coming up for run support, if he gets outside the hashes, he will get washed out of the play and not play well in traffic.
• The level of competition will take play here; interesting to glimpse if the game is too fast for him in the early phases of camps.
