Player Bio: Andre Carter II attended Vista Murietta High School located in Temecula, CA. At Vista Murrieta, he started at tight end on the junior varsity team; as a junior, his family moved to Missouri City, TX. He would then attend Ridge Point High School as he started at tightend. In his senior season, Carter suffered a season-ending back injury three games into the schedule. He considered a junior college until his mother learned about Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. The prep school not only put him on an academic path to West Point, but Cheshire coach Dave Dykeman also had him play at tight end and outside linebacker. Carter is the son of former Denver Broncos and New England Patriots defensive line Rubin Carter.

Ultimate highlights
army cadets

strengths

  • He has a suitable frame and length for an EDGE rusher at the next level.
  • He has the combination of speed, quickness, sideline-to-sideline agility, athleticism, and power in his frame.
  • A cerebral player with a high football IQ shows patience while identifying RPO, play-action, or against the run.
  • He is a menacing pass rusher who uses his size to disengage from blockers.
  • He has an impeccable knack for timing the snap with his explosive first step to interrupt the interval timing of the lineman blocking schemes.
  • He has a significant bend off the edge displaying his flexibility, and he can blow right past the tackles to get home to the quarterback.
  • He can drop back in zone coverage, as his length can cause issues with flats and curl routes.

weakness

  • He displayed poorly at the Senior Bowl as the bigger-bodied lineman obliviated him during the workouts.
  • He will need to add more mass to his frame, recommending 20-25 pounds of muscle.
  • He has a considerable upside; however, the reward will be low, as he will be a project.
  • Despite being able to recognize the run, he struggled due to the lack of strength in his frame.
  • He tends to rely on his speed, which will cause him to over-pursue his task and play out of control.
  • He consistently lines up in wide-nine alignment, generating the majority of his speed rush force, but will get washed out of the play at the next level.
  • Poor performance at the Senior Bowl dropped his stock; however, he needs to grade well at NFL Combine to secure a Day 2 selection.
  • Did not test well at Army's pro-day, stock will drop significantly.
Draft Projection: 4th - 6th Round

NFL Comparison: David Ojabo (Baltimore Ravens)
