Player Bio: ​Dawand Jones attended Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, IN. In his first year as a starter in 2017, he helped Ben Davis to an undefeated 6A state championship. He garnered Indiana's Football Coaches Association Top 50 team selection as a senior, 6A All-State selection in 2017, as a junior was a four-star prospect by ESPN, 5-stars by Rivals.com and 247Sports.com. A talented two-sport athlete who excelled on the basketball court, averaged 17 points and nine rebounds per game on the hardwood and had several Division I scholarship offers.

STRENGTHS

• He is an enormous player with a tall frame, ideal arm length, and massively large 11" hands.
  
• He swiftly emerges from his stance at the snap and habitually engages with the defender.
  
• He uses his long arms and huge hands to paralyze the defenders with excellent power and jolting bodily shocks.
  
• He is an asset as a lead blocker, blasting to close space to open up space for power tosses, pitches, and sweeps and obliterating his target.
  
• He has a fierce physical demeanor to pancake defenders in combo blocks or get out to the second level.
  
• He uses a kick start to spot defenders on play-action and eliminate their leverage at the tackle.
  
• As a pass protector, he demonstrates that he will not panic, demonstrates patience, and extends his arms to keep the defender in his range.
  

WEAKNESSES

• He has gained over 30 pounds since the end of the season, great concerns with his health and nutrition.
• He has only a 12-game starter, the best yet to be known.
• He relies on his upper body strength for leverage and will not use his lower half to drive through the blocks.
• When beaten by defenders, he struggles to redirect or change his direction and will need to develop better skills for the next level.
• His size is exceptional to cover two gaps, but he has struggled to diagnose stunts and blitz defenses.
