STRENGTHS

  • He has the prototypical size of an NFL starting quarterback.
  • He is an athletic, physical quarterback with excellent arm strength and a linebacker mentality.
  • He was very fluid in Kentucky's offense, which featured heavily on pro-style concepts, giving him an edge for the next level.
  • The ball explodes out of his hand as he is a strong thrower, torching defensive secondaries.
  • He religiously reads defenses going through his progressions and will look safeties away from his target to create windows to throw through.
  • He delivers the ball accurately down the field with good touch and velocity.
  • He is a threat with his legs and will pull the ball down and run physically like a running back.
  • He is a fearless runner that will go all out, hurdling, jumping, and diving over defenders.
  • He will use his big strong frame to push the pile for short-yardage or goalline plays.

WEAKNESS

  • He is another older quarterback in this 2023 NFL Draft at 24.
  • The game speed may impose some discomfort in his play, leading to poor decision-making.
  • He will not go through his progression entirely; he will throw the first open receiver.
  • The majority of his passes were behind the line of scrimmage.
  • He is uncomfortable in the pocket when it breaks down and will force throws late in small windows, leading to interceptions.
  • He does not throw the ball well across his body and needs to work on his arm angle and feet.
  • He could throw a better deep ball, generally underthrowing and getting bailed out by talented receivers.
  • He will need to work on his accuracy and touch of his passes.
Draft Projection: 1st Round

NFL Comparison: Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills)
