Ed "Pi Double i" HendersonWorldWide Rams Congratulations to Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Brandin Cooks after surpassing the 1,000 receiving mark on the season. Cooks has posted his fourth straight season over 1,000 yards since being drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 2014 NFL Draft from Oregon State.
Remarkably Cook has accomplished this fate with three separate franchises, the New Orleans Saints (twice), New England Patriots, and currently with the Rams. It is exciting to see he's achieved those yards in just 12 games and taken only 63 receptions to accomplish. In the game against the Detroit Lions today, Cooks caught his first reception for 15 yards converting a first down. His second reception was a crossing route for a gain of eight yards shy of a first down. The money catch was a 26 yard reception with less than two minutes left in the half to set his mark. During Cooks career, the highest margin is 1,173 receiving yards in 2016, and 84 total receptions in 2015. He's on a pace to break the single-season receiving mark and has a chance for the catches too with four games remaining. Cooks became the second Rams receiver since 2006 to eclipse the 1,000 yards, as Kenny Britt accomplished it in the 2016 season. Britt's catch was his only catch in the last game of the season giving 1,007 yards for the season. But wait, opposite to Cooks is teammate Robert Woods who entered the game with 904 yards needing 96 yards to accomplishing the same mark. The Rams have not produced two receivers over 1,000 yards in the same season since the 2006 campaign. That mark is something that lasts achieved by Torry Holt with 93 receptions for 1,198 yards and Isaac Bruce 74 receptions for 1,098 yards. However, until Woods can get his yardage total, Cooks will shine today as we continue to congratulate him on his efforts.
