Game Preview of Redskins Vs Rams

Overview
This game could tell us a lot about whether the Los Angeles Rams are a potential playoff contender in 2017, or whether their opening day trouncing of Indianapolis was more about the Colts being wrong than about the Rams being good. Washington is not an elite team, but they are at least a fringe-type playoff contender. That probably can't be said about the Indianapolis Colts.​

Matchup To Watch: Sammy Watkins vs Josh Norman

One of the key matchups here could be Rams receiver Sammy Watkins against Redskins corner Josh Norman, who is widely considered to be about as close to being a "shutdown corner" as you will find in the NFL today.

​It has appeared that the Redskins were assigning Norman to cover the leagues top receiver's more so than was the case last year, which could lead to an epic battle between two of the league's better players.

​Rookie Rams receiver Cooper Kupp and tight end Gerald Everett could come into play if Watkins is not able to win that battle. One of the few things that didn't go especially well for the Rams against Indy was the running of Todd Gurley, although in fairness, a couple of nice runs by Gurley were nullified by penalties. The Rams would certainly like to see him put up some better numbers this week.
