Ed "Pi Double i" HendersonWorldWide Rams
The Los Angeles Rams found a gem in rookie wide receiver Cooper Kupp, after drafting him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Kupp's performance last night against the Oakland Raiders was just what the ladies ordered, a nice hot "Kupp of Tea D."
For the second consecutive week, Kupp has scored a touchdown, but this time its done in a more traditional fashion. Kupp split through two Raiders defenders, and quarterback Jared Goff, would find a wide open Kupp for a 23 yard touchdown pass. The Rams scored on their opening drive to take a early lead against the Raiders .(video below) The Rams took the opening kickoff down the field with a balanced attack of run and passes to set up the 23 yard strike from Goff to Kupp. One play before the scoring strike, second and two, the Rams catches the Raiders guessing on a run and Goff delivers a pass to rookie tight-end Gerald Everett for a 24 gain. Kupp's touchdown capped off eight plays for 85 yard scoring drive, but even more important the Rams was able to managed to control the clock on a 4:46 scoring drive.
Kupp is congratulated after scoring his touchdown by new Rams wide receiver Sammy Watkins (left), and quarterback Jared Goff. Last weekend against the Cowboys, Kupp managed to score a touchdown, but it came after Rams receiver Robert Woods, was hit and fumbled the ball into the end zone. Kupp ended the game with only two receptions for 35 yards last week.
Kupp managed to be the games leading receiver on receptions and yardage. He finished his night with six receptions for seventy yards, and one touchdown. Amazingly, he was targeted seven times and nearly had a perfect night.
If Kupp continues to play at this level he absolutely become the receiver that defenses will have to scout around him. He is everything advertised of him since graduating from Eastern Washington University. The Rams are back home next week hosting the San Diego Chargers, a team who are already much familiar with the Rams as they had inter squads scrimmage. Intend on the Rams having a packed house against the Chargers at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, It may be just pre-season, but the Rams are doing something they haven't done since weeks two and three last season, win a game, win back to back games, and will try for number three. Rams General Manager Les Snead and Head Coach Sean McVay, can now have a sigh of relief, as it was displayed that they were perfectly dialed in selecting in the draft. Have to admit, I was a bit afraid of the draft selections, but it has paid off thus far. ![]()
