Ed "Pi Double i" HendersonWorldWide Rams Over the course of the last three seasons, the #33 worn by former Rams undrafted free agent E.J.Gaines. Gaines traded to the Buffalo Bills for the Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins.
Tomorrow afternoon, the number 33 jersey worn by another rookie undrafted free agent, Rams running back, Justin Davis. Davis requested the change after he informed of making the Rams 53-man roster. When asked, why for the change, it all boiled down from the request of one particular person, his mother. Davis mother expressed she was unaware of the fact that running backs could wear a #40 number. She was under the impression that running backs could only wear numbers in the 20’s and 30’s. Davis informed his mother that NFL running backs are permitted to wear the numbers between 20 – 49 by the league rules commision His mother and friends asked him to make the switch, something that he made possible. His family and friends said #42 didn’t look right on him. Now people are saying that #33 didn’t look right on him at this point. He informed them to give it a couple of weeks it’ll seem better. Davis will now sport the jersey of other notable Ram running backs who played and wore the #33 jersey. Players such as 1972 NFL Hall of Fame Inductee Ollie Matson, 1979 Heisman Trophy Winner, Charles White, 1980 Third Round Draft Selection Jewerl Thomas, and Justin Watson, who made comments into the camera at Super Bowl XXXVI , shortly before Tom Brady lead his New England Patriots team down the field for the game-winning field goal.
