The Los Angeles Rams enters Day Three of the 2023 NFL Draft with nine selections remaining.
The Rams selected TCU's versatile offensive lineman Steven Avila with their 36th selection. At some throughout Avila's collegiate career, he played all positions on the offensive line.

Avila initially was TCU's starting center; however, when Sonny Dykes was named head coach, he brought his starting center with him from SMU and forced Avila to move to guard. Avila proudly accepted that move as he would dominate it by allowing zero sacks and was named All-Big XII First-Teams by numerous media channels.

Ram's General Manager, Les Snead, indicated earlier in the week that the scouts were concerned with the "Black Hole" (no fourth-round selection) and expected to move down to acquire that selection.

The Rams traded back; they moved from #69 to #73 and swapped their #73 to #89 with the New York Giants while acquiring a fourth-round selection (#128).

When it was time to make a selection at #77, the Rams remained firm with not moving that pick as they selected the player they had scouted all along. At the #77th overall pick, the Rams selected Byron Young, the speedy EDGE rusher from Tennessee.

Young had a success story that no one wanted him out of high school; therefore, he worked as an assistant manager at The Dollar Store. His passion for playing football never left his heart, as he decided to start working out and enrolled at Georgia Military College.

Young's hard work paid off by earning him a scholarship to the University of Tennessee and being selected as the SEC All-American First-Team player. Young was one of the prospects that were 24 years of age, as many teams may have been concerned about his age rather than selecting him in the higher rounds.

As the Rams approached their #89 selection, many expected them to select a wide receiver, cornerback, or tightend. However, knowing the unorthodox ways of Snead drafts and his trades, he threw a sinker at the Ramily nation.

At the #89 pick, the Rams selected a player on many teams scouting reports as a UDFA (undrafted free agent). The Rams selected Wake Forest defensive tackle Kobie Turner, a graduate transfer from the University of Richmond. Turner better known as "The Conductor", as he composes music, was a two-time Colonial Athletic Association First-Team selection.

Turner knew he needed to film more of himself at a Power-5 school to be seen by scouts. That he did, Ram's defensive line coach, Eric Henderson, had his eyes on him the entire time as the Rams selected Turner with that 89th selection. As McVay passed the phone to Coach Henderson to speak with Turner, we witnessed the excitement in Henderson's eyes and his voice that he had his guy (watch video).
