#50 robert hunt vs appalachian st (2019)

Strengths: He has a massive body frame that allows him to set a heavy anchor. Hunt is a mauling run blocker, which generates much power below the pad level. He has the ability to push the pile and has a great ability to wipe his initial block and get to the second level to attack linebackers. Very quick out of his stance and moves well. When hands properly placed, backs a high punch to the defender — Phenonomn run-gap concept blocker who can open up holes, remaining square. Will win most short-yardage blocks with his size. A tall frame allows him to move around as a pass defender and tend to kick slide for speedy pass rushers.

Weaknesses: Tends to allow is talent put him in situations where he is over-aggressive missing blocking targets by lunging at the defender while leaning too far forward. While in space tend to be eager and chase after the target. Plays a little too upright, the massive frame allows him to rely on his upper body strength to maintain an anchor. As a pass protector, does not time his protection properly that presents him to be out of position. Hand positioning tends to get high to allow defenders to knock him off. Need to work on better footwork for speedy pass rushers. It will be beneficial by playing as an interior lineman. Hunt did not play in the January Lending Tree Bowl game against Miami (OH) or the Reese's Senior Bowl due to a groin injury. Hunt underwent a surgical procedure to his groin in January.
