Player Bio: ​Anfernee Orji prepped at Rockwall High School located in Rockwall, TX.
In his senior year, the captain recorded 94 tackles and two interception returns for touchdowns at Rockwall High. He also recorded 96 tackles as a sophomore in 2016, starting the beginning of his career with 299 tackles and five interceptions in a four-year varsity career. Orji garnered 2017 all-district, 2016 Region 11-6A defensive newcomer of the year, and Academic all-state second team. He also received varsity letters in football, track, and wrestling.

STRENGTHS

• He will get downhill in a hurry and use excellent leverage with the compliment of his speed at the point of attack against the run.
• He has excellent acceleration to close on the ball carrier and will lay hat to force turnovers.
• He will use his speed to avoid the offensive lineman and use his bow or flipper to disengage from blocks to get to the ball runner.
• He has promising visions in zone coverage to uncover open receivers and uses his discipline of eyes to support the defenders in coverage.
• He greatly anticipates the quarterback's throws by reading their eyes and making a break on the ball or receiver.
• He has adequate cover skills by riding tight ends down the field to avoid the catch.
• He raised his stock with an impressive 2023 NFL Combine performance.

WEAKNESS

• He will need to get stronger and bulk up with 10 pounds of muscle to take NFL offensive linemen.
  
• He must be able to take on one-on-one blocks with his hands at the initial point of attack at the next level.
  
• He needs to play better in space, struggles to get free from the crowd, over-pursues the run gaps, and struggles to tackle in space. 
  
• He does well as a blitzer but does not penetrate well to get free when engaged with a blocker.
