strengths

  • Porter Jr. is an excellent prospect with length and strength that will be an asset at the next level.
  • He is not the fastest DB in this year's draft; however, he is strong, with 17 reps on the bench press at the combine.
  • His 4.46, 40-yard dash will not wow anyone, but it is fast enough to allow him to make plays at the next level, especially in press coverage.
  • Porter Jr. is not the twitchiest corner either, but his strength, decent speed, and height, 6' 2 1/2" and arm length, compares well to the tall corner prototype, Richard Sherman, who was 6' 3 and slower.
  • He will be most effective in a defense that allows him to press receivers to utilize his most impressive traits, strength, and length.

weakness

  • Porter Jr. is not the twitchiest cornerback in this year's draft.
  • He will need help in man-press coverage to play off because mirroring receivers at the height of their route is problematic to his skill set.
  • He could only fit teams that use many Cover 3 alignment schemes.
  • He has a history of penalties for pulling or grabbing receivers when he cannot reduce his speed to break with the receivers.
  • He has the most problems with the taller and bigger receivers and will grab to sustain the competitive edge.
  • He lacked turnovers and did not seize the opportunities to intercept the ball while in the air.
Draft Projection: 1st (late) - 2nd Round

NFL Comparison: Marlon Humphrey (Baltimore Ravens)
