STRENGTHS

WEAKNESSES

  • He is a versatile player who can play several positions on the offensive side of the ball.
  • He has surprising speed, ran the fastest time at the 2023 NFL Combine amongst all the tight ends, and clocked nearly 19 MPH at the 2023 Reese's Senior Bowl.
  • He can run good routes; he ran designed routes out of stack formations.
  • The offense utilized Mallory in several types of tight-end screens and misdirection screens.
  • He ran many crossing and quick-out routes and rounded off his route at the lid of his route.
  • He occasionally will work hard to gain yards after the catch.
  • He will work back to the quarterback as a safety valve in pressuring situations.
  • He does an ok as a blocker, consistently able to locate his target.
  • At 239 pounds, he definitely will benefit by adding about 20 pounds of muscle core and build to his frame.
  • Even though he gets out to block, he struggles with his technique as a stronger rusher can navigate him to where to go.
  • Teams will need help finding his talent as a tweener of an inline blocking tight end or passing tightend.
  • He does not read the defense well as he takes his crossing routes into traffic, and brutal hits will dislodge the ball from him before securing it.
  • He struggles on his release off the line by press coverages.
  • He does not accelerate off the line, takes a moment for his speed to kick in.
Draft Projection: 5th - 7th Round

NFL Comparison: Coby Fleener (Free Agent)
