#11 david long vs. oklahoma st (2017)

Strengths: Ability to process plays well and attack the ball carrier. A playmaker when attacking the line of scrimmage. The ability to absorb blocks with a low center gravity and shed to block to make the tackle. Ability to slice through potential blockers and lay hat while playing downhill. Very athletic and has good sideline to sideline pursue. A tackling machine, just make play after play.

Weaknesses: Despite making a lot of tackles, he does tend to whiff by not wrapping up the runner. Need to run through ball carrier with legs instead of trying to wrestle to the ground. Despite the excellent lateral movement, does tend to not be able to scrape off blocks toward the sideline. Will need to work on angle pursuit and avoid blockers to the ball. Will need to work on coverage skills, can get lost in man coverage.

Draft Grade: 5.47

Draft Projection:  6th Round - UDFA

Does He Fit?: Yes, mixed in between a strong safety and a 3-4 schemed inside linebacker, such as the Rams used with Mark Barron, can fill that position. Does have more pro's and con's when coming up as run filler.
