Player Bio: James Proche prepped at DeSoto High School in DeSoto, TX. During his senior year, he caught 18 passes for 335 yards with one touchdown, one punt return for a touchdown. He was a four-star recruit by ESPN and a Dallas Morning News Area Top 100 and the number eight wide receiver by Dave Campbells Texas football. He ended his senior year at SMU with 111 receptions for 1,225 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns.​

#3 JAMES PROCHE CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Strengths: He is a receiver who possesses excellent hands, a technician at route running, and has return skills. His route tree is very unlimited, and he crafts all of his moves throughout his routes. His explosive first steps off the ball eat the defender's cushion and precise moves that create separation. His gentle hands allow him to catch anything in his window and will make the tough catches in traffic or the one-handers that are out of reasonable reach. He has a significant focus on the field and does not lose concentration when led in too tight spaces. Has the ability to run jet sweeps and great on wide-receiver screens. He ideal threat comes from the slot position, where he can work himself more open in his routes.

Weaknesses: As an outside receiver, it limits his ability to be a threat or a productive receiver. He struggles with press coverage when lining up outside, and the defensive backs will restrict his play production. He is not very promising with 50/50 throws, and despite his great leaping ability, it does on show up those throws. He does not have the homerun speed, definitely not a vertical threat. At the next level, it is better to fit in the slot and will be a possession receiver.​
