Player Bio: Josh Uche prepped at Columbus High School in Miami, Florida. The freakish defensive end was part of two teams that he leads to the Florida Class 8A State Championship in his junior and senior years. In Uche junior season, he recorded 34 tackles with 8.5 sacks and accounting for two forced fumbles. His senior year, he would make for even better with 50 tackles with 14 sacks and two forced fumbles. These stats were kind enough to, as he regarded as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com. He arrived at Michigan in 2016 and did not play as much. At one point, who complained about not being used. He would get his shot last season when starting EDGE Rashan Gary would go down to an injury. Uche ended his Wolverine career with 56 tackles (20.5 for loss), 16.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. ​

​#6 JOSH UCHE VS ILLINOIS (2019)

Strengths: A phenomenon player who has an explosive first step. Has the ability to accentuate the offensive tackle position off the ball on passing plays. He has tremendous athletic ability who can fly all over the field. Has sideline-to-sideline speed and be able to move through space to compromise the offensive plays. He has a remarkable ability to prevail off the edge, with a thunderous bend, twisting through the contact, and still use a repertoire of rips and bends to get through the line—very fluid hips and very flexible to conquer as a pass rusher. A very cerebral player with the ability to read the formations tackles positioning, and still win off the edge with his speed. Just know that he impactful player off the edge, a real playmaker—a productive player who will be a three-down linebacker. Very smooth and comfortable in coverage, very fluid in backpedaling with great depth in zone coverages. He can cover tight-ends and backs out of the backfield one-on-one: impeccable stunting ability, and a dominant on the blitz whether as a standup or hands in the ground.​

Weaknesses: His build is that of an NFL safety and will benefit by bulking up to be productive at the next level. Question will be can his body hold up to the pounding from the bruising NFL tackles. Will need to possed more strength to compliment his speed. There was a point where he engages with bigger lineman, at the point-of-attack, usually find him having to pop back up from the ground. Once blockers are engaged, his struggles to disengage in the run game. For now, his value will be on third-down passing plays or blitz packages.
