Player Bio: Kenneth Gainwell starred for Yazoo County High School, MS. At Yazoo County, he was the starting quarterback and rushed for 4,730 while passing 3,682 yards. Amid his stats, he scored 75 rushing touchdowns while tossing 32 touchdown passes and one kick-off return from touchdown. He rushed for 1,834yards with 32 touchdowns while passing 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns in his senior season. He earned the 2017 MHSAA Class 3A Mr. Football, Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 3A Player of the Year, USA Today All-USA Mississippi second team, and the Clarion-Ledger All-State First Team honors. He received an invite 2017 Mississippi/Alabama High School All-Star Classic, named Co-MVP for the game.

Strengths: Memphis produces yet another dual-threat running back for the NFL Draft. He is following in the footsteps of Tony Pollard, Darrell Henderson, Patrick Jones, and Antonio Gibson as a  another exceptionally skilled running back. He has incredible speed, quickness, versatility, and unbelievable agility. His vision is exceptionally well in the open field and creates a lot of explosive plays. The shiftiness in his move is incredible how he can make the first defender miss with an amazing B-button spin move. He runs the ball well and stays below the pad level to run through tackles and get skinny between tacklers. His versatility allows him to line up all over the offense and provide nightmares and mismatches in coverages. As a receiver, he can run good routes and has lovely soft and reliable hands catching the ball. A three-down back at the next level adds plus signs to his scouting reports.

Weaknesses: He needs to add about 10 pounds of muscle mass to his frame and more strength at the next level. He is high-risk at the current weight at the next level in goal-line and short-yardage attacks. He needs to learn how to become a better pass blocker as he rarely used to protect the quarterback. Despite his grand vision, he will need to recognize the blitz or stunts getting to the quarterback in pass protection.
