He was rated as the nation's 57th overall high school recruit Perkins received invites to the U.S. Army All-American Game and the Opening. Perkins signed his letter of intent with the University of Oklahoma and attended school in his senior year's spring semester.

#7 Ronnie Perkins CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Strengths: He is very athletic and tremendously explosive off the ball combined with both power and speed from the edge. His strength is so impressive and unique how forceful he uses it against the blocker. He uses a strong punch with his long-span as a bull rusher driving the blocker back. He plays well against both the run and passes while on the attack. He consistently plays below the pad level maintaining excellent leverage against the run, splitting double teams. He has average bend off the edge and uses an arsenal of pass rush moves, bullrushes, dip, swim, and a club. He is an excellent fit for either 3-4 or 4-3 defenses as he can play with his hand down or as a standup.

Weaknesses: One flaw after reviewing Perkins's game film he can be undisciplined in assignments against the run. He will follow pulling linemen allowing the backside he should contain open for big runs. Despite his arsenal of rush moves, he can get quicker with his hands because he lacks a second move when defeated by the blocker. He needs to work on his bend at the next level, he tends to lean too far forward, and crafty NFL tackles will use his weakness to their advantage.
